The Akron Art Museum teams up with the downtown library and Summit Artspace for a day of free family events in May’s Sunday Sampler, May 2, 11 am to 5 pm. Events include:
The Akron Art Museum will feature free admission to the gallery all day, 11 am to 5 pm. This is also a chance to see the Pattern ID exhibit before it closes on May 9. Pattern ID Photoboth, 12 to 3 p.m.: Sort through our collection of patterned garb and step into one of our wild backgrounds for your unique Pattern ID picture. Akros Percussion Collective, 3 pm: Free concert performance. Enjoy a selection of percussive patterns from around the globe, including traditional maraca patterns mixed with electronic sounds plus African rhythms incorporating steel drums and traditional instruments of Trinidad and Tobago.
The Akron-Summit County Public Library will be open 1-5 pm. The library will be showing a Getting Started in Family History Exhibit in Special Collections. There will also be Crafts to Go at the 3rd floor Teen Division Paul Petric: An Afternoon of Spanish Music, 2 pm: free concert in the auditorium. Story Time Sampler, Children’s Library, 2 pm
Summit-Artspace will be open from 11am to 5 pm and will feature an exhibition of paintings and artwork by Women’s Art League of Akron members. Register to win a painting donated by a well-known artist with proceeds going to the WAL Scholarship Fund. Artist Barbara Lord, 1-3 pm: Demonstration of Landscapes in Acrylic
